Baseball topped in two one-run games at Webster

SAUGET, Ill. -- The baseball team dropped two games at Webster on Friday.  They lost 2-1 in the opener as Webster scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh, and they fell 6-5 in 12 innings in game two.

Starting pitcher Jonah Moore went the distance in the first game against Webster as he allowed both earned runs on seven hits.

Greenville went ahead 1-0 in the second inning when a run scored when a ball hit by Danny Strohm was misplayed by the third baseman.

Webster tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

The Panthers jumped ahead 2-0 in the second game when Mike Hardin hit a two-run homer.  They added to the lead in the top of the third on an error on a ball put in play by Shane Olmsted.

Webster tied the game 3-3 with a three run third inning.

Travis Ralls recorded an RBI double in the fourth inning to give Greenville the lead again.

The Panthers tacked on their fifth run on a run-scoring groundout by Hardin in the seventh.

Webster posted the tying runs in the bottom of the eighth.

The Panthers (8-10, 0-2 SLIAC) travel to Westminster on Saturday for a doubleheader.
