GREENVILLE, Ill. - The bass fishing team held their third and final qualifier of the fall season on Governor Bond Lake over the weekend.
Located just five minutes form campus, the team is familiar with the local lake, which led to their best event yet. There were 11 keepers brought to the scales for a total of 33.87 pounds.
The big fish of the event was weighed in by Shane Campbell, with a 5.40 pound giant. Hannah Hill took an early lead during the event when she weighed in three fish for 9.49 pounds which included a 4.49 pound big fish. She caught them all before 8 a.m., only an hour and a half after takeoff.
Despite the heat, there were some other good fish weighed with two more over three pounds by the end of the day.
The next event for the team will be the McKendree University Invitational held Sept. 22-23. They will be on Vandalia Lake and Lake Glenn Shoals, respectively. This will be followed by the FLW Qualifier held on Lake of the Ozarks on Sept. 29.
