Men's soccer clinches SLIAC tournament appearance with win at Webster

FENTON, Mo. - The men's soccer team gained a 1-0 win at Webster on Saturday to give them a position in the SLIAC tournament next week.

The Panthers won the match on a header by Christian Gomez in the 36th minute. Jared McPeek crossed the ball from two yards, and Gomez put the ball in the net.

Overall, the Panthers allowed Webster to take 17 shots, but goalkeeper Nick Holland was up for the challenge with four saves in each half to end with eight. The shutout was Holland's third of the season.

The Panthers (10-8, 6-3 SLIAC) will compete in the SLIAC tournament on Thursday, Nov. 7. Their opponent will be announced by SLIAC officials on Monday.
