Men's track and field headlined by first place 4x400 relay team at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The men's indoor track and field team began their season at Illinois College on Saturday.  The Panther squad turned in five finishes that ranked in the top three of their respective events.

The day was headlined by the 4x400 team of Jackson Pierce, Matt Hughes, Tyler Kimes, and Alex Fink who were first in a time of 3:32.

John Mangold and Ben Perry posted second place marks.  Mangold finished the one mile run in 4:29, and Perry was second in the weight throw with a distance of 15.02 meters (49 feet-3.5 inches).

Greg Mitchell and Nathan Potts gave GU third place finishes.  Mitchell was third in the high jump with a clearing of 1.88 meters (6-2), and Potts was right behind his teammate Mangold with a time of 4:34 in the one mile run.

The Panthers will compete at Principia on Friday and Saturday in their next indoor meet.
