Cross country teams earn USTFCCA scholar team honors; GC women tops in NCAA Division III

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The men's and women's cross country teams have been honored with U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) scholar team honors for the 2016 season.  The Greenville women's cross country team posted a GPA of 3.84 which was tops on the NCAA Division III list.

Only two schools posted a better team GPA than the Lady Panthers.  NCAA Division II Union University had a team mark of 3.94, and NCAA Division I Georgia State accumulated a 3.85 average.

The Greenville teams were two of 389 teams that were named All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA. Of those 389 teams, 216 were women's and 173 were men's.  Both squads are coached by Brian Patton.

For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum team GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale.
