GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team defeated Fontbonne 86-64 on Wednesday night to take sole possession of first place in the SLIAC standings.  After GU's win and a loss by Eureka, the Panthers are one game better in the conference standings.

Greenville used a 33-point first quarter to take control of the contest as they led 33-13 after one period.  They added eight points to their lead in the second quarter, taking a 57-29 lead to halftime.

The second half saw Fontbonne outscore Greenville 35-29, but the dominating first half allowed GU to coast in the second half.

Laura Goodnight led a contingent of five Panthers that hit double figures in the scoring column.  Goodnight paced Greenville with 16, and Meredith Crosier netted 13 points.

Three Panthers -- Wesley Woodard, Ellaina Davis, and Morgan St. James -- contributed 12 points each.

The GU squad (16-4, 11-1 SLIAC) goes to MacMurray on Saturday for a game at 1 p.m.
