Women's soccer tops Millikin in shutout win

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team picked up a signature non-conference win on Tuesday as they defeated Millikin by a 1-0 score.  Breanna Thomas tallied the lone goal in the 57th minute.

The Panthers and Big Blue each managed to take 11 shots in the contest, but Greenville's shots were the most challenging as six were on goal.

Marjory Coates worked all 90 minutes in goal for Greenville, picking up three saves.  Coates lowered her goals against average to less than one per game at 0.94 in her first shutout.

Thomas had five of GU's 11 shots, putting three on goal.  Dani Pearce added the assist on Thomas's second goal of the season.

The Panthers (2-2) travel to Monmouth for a game on Friday.
