GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team took a set from No. 13 Washington-St. Louis before falling in a four set match on Tuesday night. The Panthers dropped the match 25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17.
Abby Freeman continued her record-setting regular season with 23 kills and one service ace in the match. She secured a double-double with 10 digs in the match and has scored at least one ace in her last 27 matches.
The Panthers hit .040 in the opening set and .091 in the second as they found themselves down by two sets. In the third set, Greenville received 17 kills and hit at a .233 rate as they kept alive in the match. GU hit .190 in the final set.
Allyson Grabowski was all over the court with 15 digs in the match.
The Panthers collected 10 block assists at the net as Anna Fitch led the way with five. Fitch added seven kills, and Maci Bonacorci provided six kills.
Abby Quirin tallied 38 assists.
The Panthers (21-10) will compete in the SLIAC tournament on Saturday at Webster. Greenville, the SLIAC regular season co-champions, face Principia at 4 p.m., and the championship match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
