The women’s volleyball team defeated Spalding in three sets on Friday night and collected their fifth outright league championship in the last seven seasons. Overall, the Panthers have won nine of the last 10 SLIAC league championships.
The women’s volleyball team defeated MacMurray in three sets on Tuesday night to give Greenville its ninth SLIAC regular season championship in the last 10 years and the right to host the SLIAC tournament on November 9.
The women’s volleyball team defeated Blackburn and Spalding in a pair of SLIAC matches on Saturday. The wins brought Greenville’s total to 20 victories this season, the 10th straight season the Panthers reached 20 or more wins.
The women’s volleyball team regained first place in the SLIAC standings with a pair of wins on Saturday at H.J. Long Gymnasium. In Greenville’s annual SLIAC quadrangular, the Panthers defeated Principia 25-8, 25-15, 25-9 before taking a five-set win over Westminster 21-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-11.
The women’s volleyball team bounced back on Friday with a three-set win over Iowa Wesleyan. The Panthers dominated the first set 25-8 and closed out the match with 25-14 and 25-16 wins in the second and third sets.
The women’s volleyball team improved their SLIAC record to a perfect 3-0 with a pair of 3-0 wins at Eureka on Saturday. They defeated Fontbonne 25-15, 27-25, 25-20 and followed that with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-9 win over Eureka.
The last time the women’s volleyball teams from Greenville and Webster squared off the Panthers punched their ticket to their fourth consecutive NCAA national tournament as SLIAC tournament champions. As fate and the schedule makers would have it, a matchup between the schools was Greenville’s first conference match of the season in 2019 and the Panthers collected a four-set win over Webster on the road.
The women’s volleyball team concluded the Millikin tournament with a 3-1 slate after a split against Illinois College and Millikin on Saturday. The Panthers opened Saturday play with a five set win over Illinois College, followed by a four set loss to Millikin.
After collecting six SLIAC volleyball offensive player of the week awards as a sophomore in 2018, junior Abby Freeman added her first honor of the 2019 season in week two of the volleyball season with the SLIAC offensive player of the week award.
The women's volleyball team completed their weekend trip to Franklin with a split of their two matches on Saturday. Greenville lost 19-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-23 to Franklin in the first match and followed that with a 28-26, 26-24, 25-14 win over Anderson.
The women’s volleyball team, who has advanced to the NCAA tournament for the past four years, began their 2019 season with a split on the opening day of the Elmhurst tournament in the Chicagoland area. The Panthers gained a five-set win against North Central in the first match of the season, followed by a four-set loss to Heidelberg in their nightcap.
Greenville University received word of the death of rising senior women's volleyball student-athlete Allyson Grabowski who passed away Monday due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Bourbon, Mo.
